What to Wear on a Date to the Cinema #ApertureNight

April 3, 2015

To me, what to wear to the cinema depends on what type of activity will follow your movie night. If your movie night is part of a date with your significant other or a first date with a potential prospect, I recommend a semi-casual look. You don't want to wear something too dressy and complicated, unless you're both going to a formal event after the movie. I personally love easy and simple dresses or nice tailored jeans, with heels. On this occasion, I wanted to be comfortable while sitting for two hours, without sacrificing femininity, therefore, I chose to wear a comfortable denim shirt-dress and heel sandals (the weather was perfect for open toe shoes).

One of the things that I enjoy doing, mainly through my Instagram account is to promote local businesses. Today, I'd like to share one of my favorite things to do in town. When I'm in the mood for a movie, which is quite often, I prefer a more cozy, old-time movie house experience to the larger theatres. a/perture Cinema is an independent, locally owned art-house cinema located in downtown Winston Salem, NC. They always have a wide variety of films to fit my mood, be it a first-tun documentary, a comedy, or even an international film. They offer a great selection of snacks and drinks, and they serve wine and beer (oh yes!!!). If you ever visit the Piedmont Triad area in North Carolina or live around this area and want a more rewarding movie-going experience, I suggest you give a/perture cinema a try and, since it's located in the center of downtown, on Fourth Street, you'll have a great selection of places to eat and drink after your movie night.

  1. Perfect dress on you, Carelia - and love all the bangles and your favorite leather bag too.
I also prefer art-house smaller scale movie theaters and wrote about such theaters in Tacoma and on Bainbridge Island where we usually go. Always such a wonderful experience and special feeling about them! xxx

    1. Thanks Natalia! I'm glad we both agree on smaller scale theaters and as a matter of fact, I love small scale restaurants, bars, stores etc. I love cozy places in general.
