Mixed Patterns: Preppy And Ethnic

April 12, 2016

Hi everyone! Today I'm showing a combination that I don't recall trying before. Mixing patterns is one of my favorite things to do fashion-wise, therefore, I'm constantly experimenting with diferent combinations. This spring, I decided to introduce a few preppy patterns to my wardrobe like, for example, the one on this shirt. I already wore this top with solid-colored bottoms (army green) but this time, I took a different approach and wore it with a terra-cotta Mexican/South Western inspired skirt (see more looks here and here). Why do I think this mix works? I believe soft patterns mixed with a strong or more colorful print can be an interesting combination and they only make sense when when they share similar colors. As most of us know, the best way to balance any print mixing, is by wearing them with solid colored pieces, and that is why these shoes and jacket came into the game.

Today I'm wearing:

Shirt: c/o by Needham Lane
Skirt: Ralph Lauren (vintage). See a similar style here.
Jacket: Kenneth Cole: (Thrifted). Try this by BB Dakota.
Pumps: Gianvito Rossi. Off white version 4" heel available here and 2.75" here.
Bag: Vintage. A very similar bag in used condition available here.
Sunglasses: Givenchy (vintage 1970's). Check these out by Asos.
Pearls: c/o by Homage Jewelry.
