Key Piece: The Bright Colored Coat

This is my second post from a series that I started on this blog named, "Key Piece". The purpose of this series is to share the most important and versatile pieces from my wardrobe and how I styled them for different occasions. Today, I'm sharing with you another key piece from my wardrobe which is the bright coat.
Bright coats are very important pieces in my wardrobe, simply because they bring so much fun and add life to my Winter looks. I wear bold colored coats for either to brighten up a neutral-colored look or to add an interesting contrast to a bright one.

FIND THE PERFECT BRIGHT COAT:

In this outfit above, my red coat was the perfect piece to compliment a preppy and men-inspired look. As you can see, the coat did not steal this look's thunder; instead, it added a great contrast.

Colorful prints paired with a colorful coat is just the perfect statement mainly around the holidays. Just don't forget to tone it down with neutrals such as black or white.

Color-block is a great idea at any time of the year and bright coats can be your foundation piece for this type of combination. As you can see in the picture above and the three below, I use my colored coats with other statement pieces to create a fun color-block effect.

This is another look where the coat helped to break up the patterns and also added a fun pop of color.

As you can see, a bold colored coat is the easiest way to spice up a winter wardrobe. Sometimes, we just need to tear away from the faithful black coat and instead try one in a primary color. Remember, Fall and Winter seasons are all about your outerwear.
