Three Reasons That Motivate Me To Buy Second-Hand Fashion

I was told once that buying vintage or thrift items was like paying for someone else's garbage. I was a bit offended by this because when I buy vintage items, getting someone else's funk is the last thing that crosses my mind; in fact, I feel very proud for doing it.
I have three simple reasons why I love vintage and also thrifting: First of all, I love it because it's budget friendly. I can find designer brand items from a year or two ago at a very affordable price and many times, this is the only way I can afford quality. My second reason why I love buying pre-loved items and mainly vintage is because they are unique, therefore they can add a one-of-the-kind touch to my fashion-forward ensembles. I mean, really, who wants a style that looks cookie-cutter anyway? And my third reason and the one I'm most proud of is that by buying second-hand items, I'm contributing to our environment...to a greener world, that is. Buying pre-worn saves clothes from going to a landfill and is also an ethical way of satisfying my crave for fast-fashion.

Buying a pre-loved fashion item isn't the only way to contribute to a greener world. We can also help by discarding properly the ones we don't need anymore, such as consigning them, selling them or donating to a non-profit organization like Goodwill.
This is one of the main reasons why I take good care of items in my wardrobe regardless of their name brand. If I ever decide to sell or donate them, someone else will have the opportunity to look great with well-groomed items.

And talking about green, these photos were taken at the beautiful Reynolda Gardens in Winston-Salem, NC.  I couldn't find a better place to photograph an environmental friendly look. The greenery here is beautiful, all perfectly maintained by Wake Forest University. If you ever visit the Piedmont area of North Carolina, don't leave without stopping by this area. Besides the beautiful gardens, they have interesting shops and restaurants that will keep you entertained for hours.
