Violent Femmes

If you are old enough like me and you listened to alternative rock in the 80's, you will probably remember an American band from Milwaukee named Violent Femmes and their album with the same name. The cover of the album is a picture of an adorable little girl  in barefoot (remind me of me when I was little growing up at the coast of Honduras) snooping through a window of an old abandoned house. Well, my boyfriend felt inspired by that picture and this is how he came up with the fashionista and lady-like version of it...lol.
Anyway, this is my preppy outfit from last Wednesday with my midi skirt, which I layered it with an old denim jacket to add a roughed and casual touch.

Zebra Print

My last Zebra print clothing item I owned was a cotton Marc Jacobs coat which gave up on me about 10 years ago. Last week while I was touring around H&M's website, I came across this zebra print long sweatshirt which it fits me like a dress, made of 100% cotton which immediately reminded me of that coat. Making the story short, here I am wearing it with my Guatemalan Indians dolls belt to add an ethnic touch. I also had the opportunity to wear for the first time my Luciano Padovan boots and my new bag acquisition by Kate Spade.

From The Boy's Club

Sometimes I feel like bringing out the 80's and boyish side of me by wearing oversized blazers, comfy trousers and of course a hat purchased from the men's department. Since the weather started turning just right for light layering, I decided to put on last year thrift find houndstooth plaid jacket and paired with the right pieces for that 80's modern look.

Putting Away The Flat Sandals

We are getting close to the time of the year of putting away our flat sandals and bringing out our boots and warm kicks. But, it's also a good time to find great sales in many summer-style shoes that could give a good use next year, mainly with the classic and simple lines that don't go out of style.
These are three different outfits that I wore this summer with my favorite sandals and I wanted to share with you before fall outfits start making their parade.

Toughening Up a Pink Dress

It seemed to me a very good idea pairing this pink girly dress with my biker jacket and black booties in order to add some edginess and toughness...and when I say toughness, I meant the dress, because no matter how hard I try, I can't come up with a tough face look for pictures...lol.
Anyway, this is what I wore this past Thursday for my monthly anniversary dinner with my boyfriend, however, I realistically didn't need the jacket until later in the night.

Moto Jacket/Chaqueta moto: by Muubaa. I also love this Mackage version. If you don't care for leather, this is a great denim version by Paige Denim.

Dress/Vestido: Anthropologie (last season). This Donna Morgan also could take you for a sweet and wild evening when wearing it with your moto jacket. But if you want a more casual pink approach, this  Topshop skater style wont't let you down with this look as well.

Bag/Bolso: Ebay. Search around Etsy (needlepoint bag) for tons of choices.

Wearing White After Labor Day

I am not originally from United States, so the rule of not wearing white after Labor Day doesn't make sense to me. It is a tradition, but not a law, so I am going to sport my crispy white dress and highlight the tan left from all this summer. If someone ask me why I am wearing white after Labor Day? I will respond...me no english...lol.

Bermuda Denim Shorts

A few weeks ago after staring at pictures of Angie from Youlookfab.com wearing a pair of bermudas, that she actually made from an old pair of jeans, I felt very tempted to do this myself. After thinking it over and over for a couple of weeks, I finally decided to get my hands on the evil scissors and chopped off an old pair of semi-boyfriend jeans that needed to see the daylight again.
I decided to leave them below the knee for now to see how this length looked on me, then later if I get bored, I might bring the length right above the knee. I am not sure, we'll see.
Angie has such long legs that she could afford not only to wear them with sneakers, but also wear them with high-top style sneakers. I, on the other hand, walked away from the sneakers idea and instead, went for nude cage heels . I finished the look with a white and blue brocade print tunic to keep things summery and casual.
Thanks to Angie's inspiring pictures, I tried on bermudas and I believe these old jeans are going to get sunlight more often.
