An Intentional Mismatch

Mismatched Shoes Street Style

The espadrilles that I'm wearing today arrived with two sets of laces. One set matching the color of the shoe and the other in a gingham pattern (so smart). The day that I decided to wear them, I was undecided about which laces to put on my shoes. The solid colored laces are perfect because they complement the dress and bring a simpler touch to my ensemble. However, the gingham laces are so much fun, in fact, they immediately reminded me of the Miu Miu trendy ballet flats that came out last year and still quiet trending. I don't care much about the look of laces on ballet flats with all those buckles and grommets. However, I love the idea of mismatching the laces like many street style mavens did with those ballet shoes.

As you can see, that's exactly what I did with my wonderful pair of espadrilles. I decided to bring even more fun to my subtle pattern mix in-between my dress and my scarf by adding a gingham shoe lace. Oh my goodness, I had so much fun wearing this look! It was awesome how to see how many people (even little girls) kept staring at my shoes with a face of surprise and yet approvement.
If you are like me and love simpler shoes but still want to have fun with them, then this styling might suit you. You can always purchase these particular espadrilles or even buy different laces for the ones you already have.
This look is perfect for a laid-back weekend or your day off from work.
