Replace Sequins With Pearls This New Year's Eve

All black street style

The big party of the year is only a couple days away and I'm sure you're wondering what to wear for New Year's Eve!! I personally have decided to break from sequins and wear something less shiny and yet festive. If you remember a few days ago, I posted a Christmas look wearing all black; this time for a New's Years look, I decided to do exactly the same, but with different separates.
As I mentioned earlier in this month, and as most of us already know, when we wear a monochromatic look, we can play with textures as we please without looking too busy or overwhelmed. In this opportunity, I opted to wear a full skirt and a see-through lace top instead of a dress, just to make things a little less traditional. However, I chose to wear classic and traditional pearls for jewelry in order to replace shiny sequins, but to still keep a lady-like party-ready vibe.

Pearl strands come in different lengths, however I tend to wear more of the choker length. This style, besides complimenting almost any neck line, is also classic, versatile and appropriate for every occasion. Regardless of your outfit, you really can't go wrong with a strand of pearls and if you want to be matchy matchy like me, compliment it with pearl studs.

This is the last post of my blog for 2015. Once again, I had a blast sharing with you my sense of style throughout my looks. Thanks so much for reading my blog and sticking with me and also for your priceless comments, chats and emails; not only here, but also in Instagram and Facebook. I wish you a wonderful New Years and hopefully I'll be back posting in a couple days.

White Balance

Matching bag and shoes street style

The perfect white bag for my perfect white heels is here! I have to confess that this bag has been on my wish list for a while now. My wish became reality this Christmas, thanks to my dear boyfriend that made it happen for me.
This is my first time using this bag and as you can see, I'm doing the matchy matchy thing with my shoes. I'm also wearing, for the first time, this vintage blazer that I found recently at a local shop, which, in my opinion, looks terrific with black and army green.

As soon as the bag arrived, I gave it (twice) a thick coat of leather protector as I do with all my leather bags and shoes.

YES, it's perfectly ok to match the color of your bag with your shoes! Many women love the idea of the this controversial matchy- matchy combo, but they are too afraid to commit. In my opinion, you shouldn't let these nonsense rules ruin your fun and your sense of style. Go ahead, give the world a piece of your coordinated self.

Festive, My Way

Holiday parties call for sparkles, metallics, sexy details, delicate slip dresses and of course a dazzling LBD. I don't consider myself a shy person, therefore, I have no problem sharing a look that pretty much has all those attributes. #DRESSFUN
In order to wear a party outfit with a lot of details without looking like a human Christmas tree, my best bet was wearing a monochromatic look. As we all know, black is the most flattering, alluring and timeless color, therefore I didn't hesitate wearing it from head to toe.
Dressing in all black might seem easy, but if you want to make your outfit more interesting, I would recommend layering and mixing textures.

How about jewelry? In my opinion, a monochromatic ensemble can look splendid either with dainty or bold jewelry.

Later in the night, I decided to add an edgy touch to my ensemble by wearing a bomber leather jacket.
With a total black look, you really can get away with fun layering. By the way, this midi dress used to be a pretty maxi dress, but I didn't wear it as often as I anticipated. Last week I decided to make it shorter, hoping to wear it more often.

We are a few days away from the Christmas holidays, therefore, I will be off from blogging for a little while. I'll probably be back posting before New Year's, but I'll remain active on my Instagram account.
By the way, this year, instead of spending Christmas with my family in New Orleans, we will be spending it with my boyfriend's family in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Who knows? This time I might have the opportunity to have a real white Christmas.
I hope you have wonderful holidays and have the chance to spend quality time with your loved ones.

Preppy Retro With Hunter Boots

Outfit with Hunter boots

I can see clearly that the rain isn't going anywhere, therefore I will continue to find happy looks to wear on such gloomy days. This time, I used vintage and contemporary garments in order to come up with a preppy look with a retro feel.
I don't know if I mentioned it before, but I have three pairs of rain boots (black, green and snake print) and believe me, they're getting tons of wear lately; mainly when I'm running errands. To me, they are a necessity and besides, they look great on everybody regardless of you style them.
I personally prefer to wear my rain boots with skirts around this time of the year, but in Winter, due the cold temperatures, I'm pretty much forced to wear them with thermal socks and skinny jeans.

I hope you have a wonderful weekend and please stay warm and dry if you're encountering a wet and cold weather.

Embracing Rainy Days With Color

rainy day street style

Happy December, everyone! I can't believe we're already entering the last month of the year. It feels like only yesterday I was posting outfits for Spring with gorgeous weather all around and here I'm all layered up walking in the rain which, by the way, hasn't stopped for almost a week now.
But, I'm not going to start complaining about this weather. Instead, I'm going to face it with a positive attitude by wearing clothes with colors that makes me happy.
I hope you like today's look. I had fun playing around with my oldest and brighter trench by styling it with a long plaid scarf and a tartan skirt.
