I'm Petite and High Heel Shoes Are My Best Friends

January 7, 2019

The beauty about being petite is that I have the ability to look tall or small depending on my mood. That being said, I find myself reaching out for high heels shoes more often than flats. For a petite woman like me, even a small 2" inch heel can make a huge difference with certain outfits. Yes, there are some combinations that can make me appear shorter if I wear them with flats. I don't mind wearing thick layers even if they make me look wider, however, I'm not crazy about the idea of looking shorter.

For example this outfit, I chose to cinch my oversized/chunky cardigan with a wide enough belt in order to add definition and to spice things up. As you can see, I've even dared to wear two different prints without feeling or looking overwhelmed by my ensemble. I must confess that I wouldn't wear this outfit with flats. I am 5'4 tall and I truly believe that my heeled shoes prevented me from looking stumpy or shorter in this outfit. I've learned by trial and error that high heels are necessary for me in order to experiment with proportions and make them suitable for me.
I'm aware that heels aren't for everyone, therefore, I understand if you don't feel the same way about them. 😉

And talking about heels, I want to mention that this is my first look with my new red bow sandals. They were in my need list for this year. This is a purchase that I can tell I will not regret. The shoes are beautifully made and the leather is extremely supple and yet strong. They are comfortable despite the stiletto heel. These shoes are replacing my vintage ones by Bruno Magli. I can't wait to wear them in Spring and summer looks. Now I'm off to find the perfect white heels.

WHAT I WORE:
