Paper Bag Jeans

January 29, 2019

Before I had my first paper bag pants, I was very skeptical about the style. Having extra fabric bunched around the highest part of my waist didn't sound flattering to me. I'm petite (5'4 -56 kg.) and a tad busty, so the illusion of having a short torso is inevitable. Luckily, a few years ago, my curiosity took over my skepticism and I decided to experiment with paper bag pants. I was definitely surprised by the look and the potential of this particular style of pants on me.
You must know by now that I love to cinch a lot of my outfits, therefore, I'm very pleased with the way these pants accentuate my waist with their belt. So recently, I decided to try this style again but with a more structured fabric such as denim. You may think this style as trendy - I think of it as interesting, therefore, a perfect acquisition to my denim game. I love classic jeans, but it's always refreshing to have one style that can add fun and a twist to my looks. Notice that I chose a darker wash and the reason is because darker denim seems to be more classic and versatile. Yes, I'm always thinking about the longevity of a fashion item before committing to it.

Styling my paper bag pants with a top with vertical stripes was a deliberate move. Since these are the highest rise jeans I own, I believe wearing solid colored pieces, small prints or vertical lines, can help to keep my upper body in good proportion with my lower. I also had fun bringing with me a bag that has a similar style concept of my pants.
Well, I hope you enjoyed this look and remember that sometimes we need to get extra brave and try on styles that have been intimidating us.
